# Using Incident Shortcut Barcodes

## Incident shortcut barcodes let users trigger predefined incidents instantly by scanning a special barcode from the checkpoint screen.

To use an incident shortcut barcode, first navigate to the **Location Details** or **Equipment Details** screen for the checkpoint you want to associate the incident with. You can get to this screen by scanning the checkpoint barcode or by performing a manual visit.

From that screen, **scan the incident shortcut barcode**. This will immediately open the incident entry screen on the mobile app. Add any notes if desired, then press **Save**.

You will be returned to the previous screen, where the newly created incident will now be visible. The incident’s configured actions will complete automatically during the next device sync. After the sync processes it, the incident will no longer display on the checkpoint screen.
